My Train Trip from Surat to Puri – A Journey to Remember

Travelling around the country is my passion. It is my continuous desire to explore the world, and as a student I try to utilize the little vacations that I have to this end. Travelling to new places and exploring new ideas are necessities in life and make us realize the true meaning of existence.

Trivialities of life should not take toll over your aspirations and desires. We have become extremely vulnerable in this sense in the fast paced 21st century world. As a young person I can enjoy the liberties of following my heart and I wish to make full use of these allowances.

I am a resident of the beautiful and traditional city of Surat. Surat is in fact one of the largest cities in Gujarat. It is not only an economic hub but also a great city for tourism. After exploring the city thoroughly I decided to explore other tourist destinations in India.

I have been travelling for several years now sometimes through road trips, which are by far my favorite and sometimes via train. Trains in India are vital given their affordability and wide access to remote locations. When I decided to travel to Puri which is one of the most visited tourist places in India, I searched for Surat Puri trains online and found that the Surat Puri Express (train number 22828) was the most suitable given my travel requirements.

Both the cities Surat and Puri are important hubs in their respective regions in India that is Surat in Western India (Gujarat) and Puri is Eastern India (Orissa). This allows for several direct trains between the two junctions. One can choose a train according to their budget, time of journey and route by using either the official website of Indian railways or other travel websites.

My itinerary was a long one and hence I was extremely excited to reach Puri. During my journey I met many fellow travelers and tourists with different travel plans. Sharing my views and ideas with them and learning much about the city of Puri from them made the journey seem extremely short. The journey was extremely comfortable and will remain in my memories for long.

As it was pretty hot in Surat, I booked tickets in the upper AC class of Dehradun express. The train reaches Surat at about 4:30 AM if its running on time. So I had to leave for the station from my home at least an hour before, i.e. by 3:30 Am. Luckily on that day the train arrived on time and since I had reached station at 4 AM sharp, I boarded the train. The passengers who boarded the train from Mumbai or after were in deep sleep inside my bogie. Without disturbing them I found my berth and decided to have a short nap for some 3 or 4 hours.

The train journey to Haridwar from Surat takes about 35 hours and if it’s running on time, Dehradun Express reaches Haridwar Junction at 3 PM the next day. I had my food inside the train which is served by IRCTC and also tried the various stuff which are available at station. The train travel extensively throughout Rajasthan and some parts of Uttar Pradesh before entering Uttarakhand.

I went out of my train and towards the exit of the station where there were hundreds of autos for the tourists. I booked one of them to take me to my Hotel which I had booked in advance, Hotel Aalia on the Ganges.

Qutub Shahi Tombs Hyderabad – Dedicated to the Qutub Shahi Rulers

The old and the bustling city of Andhra Pradesh is basically known as Hyderabad. It provides great historical tourism to the history lovers. Though I am not one of them but I still enjoy them whole heartedly. My expedition was contradictory to my travelling features and hence it is very special and close to me. I cannot forget the voyage of history that put me into the place where I have never been to.

Qutub Shahi Tombs Hyderabad is an instance that occurred to me in pack of surprise. Deep seated in the landscaped gardens and amidst of picturesque view the tombs are the true evidences of honor. It is positioned at a little distance from Golconda Fort. So I took a 360 degree turn to fetch my destination.

Ibrahim Bagh is the well preserved garden outside the massive building. It probably a dedication to the seven kings of Qutub Shahi who ruled for around 170 years at Golconda. The tombs depict the architectural specimen of the era of Qutub Shahis. The manifestations of the engineering talent are truly reflected. The structure still preserves the past glory despite of being stabbed by the mishmash of man, weather and time. A glorious history is narrated by the mausoleums and their artistic zeal of the Qutub Shahis and the Hyderabad city’s founder.

Apart from the rulers there are tombs of their close relatives too. They were the faithful servers of the nobles and rulers. The tombs are segmented into one storey and two storeys. The larger tombs are positioned on double storeyed and the smaller on the single one. There are chests in the center of each tomb crowning the interment burial chamber. More than 30 tombs are there in the premises and outside in the compound though I could not observe all of them closely. I saw the biggest tomb of all and that is of Ibrahim Quli Qutub Shah.

With so many tombs I was detached with my own life. Really, Qutub Shahi Tombs Hyderabad is a dedicated place and I honour with high regards. At last my journey towards history was accomplished successfully providing me the truth of life.

Charminar Hyderabad – A Rare Monument that Overlooks the Bustling City

Hyderabad and its elegant pearls are the weakness of women as far as I have heard. My mother treasures few of them. They really look graceful on her. Even I took a real pearl pendant for her. And you know what the reaction of my mom was? She broke into tears as that was my first gift to her. I am truly thankful to Hyderabad that gave me such precious moments. Charminar Hyderabad was among one of them. The signature of the city is the major tourist’s spot of the capital.

Built in 1591, the monument gracefully and proudly erects in the city of pearls. The four grand minarets overlook the Laad Bazaar, famous for Hyderabad bangles. The monument houses a mosque and a few prayer spaces approx 45 in numbers. It dazzles in the darkness of the city when it get lightened up in the evening. To the southwest of the monument, say nearly two hundred yards there is Mecca Masjid. The central archway is built by bricks that were transported from Mecca.

The rise of the minarets is 180 feet in altitude. With decorations and marvelous embellishments, the structure is the portico of the monument’s distinct features. I stood on the balcony of the massive building and overlooked the city and its bustling features. It was an awe-inspiring experience for me that would be cherished forever. The thought of Hyderabad city and its so far places of interests made my mind lit up with historical knowledge.

All these years I spend enjoying and merry making with my buddies and never tried for something distinct. It was the destiny that paved the way towards a historical journey like this. Charminar Hyderabad dominates the entire city with love and respect. This is the reason why people from all over the nation and abroad love to visit the place. With great thoughts of the monument and my next visit to Qutub Shahi Tombs Hyderabad, I moved forward elatedly.
